Story

5,852m, 8 days of walking, 7 nights sleeping in tents on a side of a mountain, temperatures reaching -15.... I think this is going to be one of the biggest challenges I ever do in my life.

I have wanted to do this for years but i have always lacked the confidence and motivation to sign on the dotted line. I’ve now talked for far too long so am finally putting words into actions.

So why am I choosing to do this for Anixety UK? Not only is this a charity extremely close to me, but I have seen too many people suffer from anixety, low self esteem, lack of confidence and fall quickly into depression.

A few facts to share and to hopefully show you just how important it is to start doing something about this.

  • 6 million people in the UK suffer from mental health issues, 3 million of them being anxiety alone. This means 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in our life time.
  • We are in the middle of a mental health crisis and for the first time ever women’s suicide rates have caught up with men. Tragically the number 1 cause of death for men under 50 is suicide.
  • But only 25% of people actually get any support.
  • 300,000 people will lose their job due to mental health and the lack of support in the work place.

Yes, I agree I have signed up to this challenge with a ridiculous fundraising target but I would love to be able to help Anxiety UK, even just a small amount, so they can relieve the pressure for someone suffering from anxiety. They are climbing their own mental Kilimanjaro every day. Anything how ever big or small would be so greatly appreciated. Let’s build a world where everyone who is suffering from mental health gets the support and respect they deserve.

SO let the Training commence...... January here I come.

Thank you again for reading this (I mean if you get this far you must be pretty committed, so dig deep and help me get to the top! )
