Story

For the past few years I’ve done various walks for The Brain Tumour Charity in honour of a good friend, but this year I’ve decided to mix things up a bit…let me explain.

So two  years ago I was  set to do the South Coast Challenge and albeit I hadn’t trained to the best of my ability (or any ability, truth be told), that wouldn’t have been the first time I’d fudged my way to the finish- so I set off with high-levels of crazy expectation and the playlist of champions.

I had to pull out at 71k as I wasn’t feeling ‘quite right’, so I put it down to experience, a large side dish of ‘egg-on-face’ and vowed to do better next time.

Two weeks later I was experiencing blackouts at home. Three weeks later I was in A & E under the very watchful eye of a Junior Doctor (forever thankful for his professional curiosity that day).

A short time after I had a diagnosis of a problem with the electrical wiring of my ticker. It’s likely to have been around for years, and is  likely the reason behind my ‘unexplained’ Stroke in 2014.

I’m now on some meds and have a cool device implanted to keep an eye on me on a longer term basis. (I like burning sage but sometimes technology is COOL).

So I’m feeling particularly grateful for all of the research, technological advancements and support on offer for eejits like me; who try to walk mountains, but need a little factory reset along the way ;)

Trying the 100k again this year (or at least further than last time, ticker permitting 😉) any donations gratefully received 🙌🏻
