BUPA Great North Run 2006 · 1 October 2006 ·
Each of us have endured every possible weather condition imaginable and pounded the streets of manchester, mile by mile in order to train for the Great North Run 2006! What a challenge it has been!!!! But we are now very much looking forward to the event itself! Please support what we are doing and help us raise as much money as possible for Mind.
Mind is a fantastic charity that helps those who suffer from mental health problems and their families. We are all very proud to be running for such a worthwhile charity as it also has personal meaning to us.
Some facts:
Mental health problems can affect anyone, rich or poor, young or old, shattering the lives of those affected and the lives of the people close to them.
One in four of us will experience a mental health problem at some point in our lives.
Every year over 100,000 people make a suicide attempt. 21 million prescriptions are issued each year for tranquilisers.
40% of GP consultations are for mental health problems.
