Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In July 2018 our 18 month old nephew, Felix was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive and potentially life changing brain tumour. Felix had developed a head tilt which had been persistent for a few weeks but was otherwise in perfect health condition. Following advice from a private physiotherapist, Felix was taken to Ormskirk Hospital where he had a CT scan which revealed a mass on his brain.
Within the coming weeks Felix was subject to multiple intrusive tests, brain surgery and is currently undergoing gruelling chemotherapy. In October 2018 Felix will be travelling to Jacksonville, Florida where he will undergo further specialist treatment through Proton beam radiotherapy. This treatment will give Felix the best chance of an overall cure with fewer long term side effects.
We are joining 100’s of people throughout the UK who are taking part in #WalkWithUs and raising vital funds / awareness for the brain tumour charity.
On the 14th October 2018 we will be walking from Felix’s home in Ormskirk to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, approximately 15 miles as this is the journey Felix and his parents have to make everyday.
Please visit The Brain Tumour Charity website for more information.
Also please visit the HeadSmart campaign from the charity which highlights the symptoms of brains tumours in babies, children and teenages. Awareness of these symptoms is vital in early diagnosis and treatment.
Sadly another member of our family has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. The future is very uncertain. This is why we are passionate about raising money for an incredible charity. The Brain Tumour Charity runs 100% on voluntary donations which fund pioneering research to find new treatments, raise awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours and provide support to people affected by a brain tumour.
