Story
In a temporary moment of madness, I accepted Simon Glencross' invitation to join a lovely team of bods, who will be hiking 26 miles for Macmillan Cancer Support on 13th July 2019. Madness, purely because I haven't done anything like this for a long time (and have terrible school fell-walking memories of struggling on behind together with my blue inhaler!). However, on a very serious note, I can't think of any better way to spend a Summer Sunday, than walking (or crawling) through the glorious Lake District fells, with a fabulous group of people, - whilst most importantly, raising money for this amazingly worthwhile cause!!
Cancer has extended its reach far too far, including into my own circle of friends and family. It has affected and devastated many people. It does not discriminate.
I'm doing this hike for everyone affected by this dreadful disease, including those who have supported a loved one who has suffered at its hands. I will be remembering those lost, whilst sending strength and love to those who have come out the other end, and to those who are currently fighting.
If I can support this incredible charity in some small way, and invite you to join me in supporting via your (very gratefully received) donations, a few blisters will be more than worth it.
A few words from Macmillan: Macmillan Cancer Support is here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. So whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right right there with you.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
Thank you Simon for inviting me to join team NXT (aka, "The 'Slow' Ginners"). It will undoubtedly be one of the best things I will do in 2019.
Thank you again to everyone for supporting my fundraising!
