Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON) is a devastating eye disease that causes severe loss of vision. Some patients also lose their vision from other inherited forms of blindness. You can support our research effort to develop new and better treatments by making a donation through these pages.

Ashely is my 11 year old son who suddenly began to loose his eye sight in June of last year and has rapidly been loosing sight since then. Leaving him with just a small amount of perifural vision and no central vision.

This is caused by a rare genetic eye disease called Lebers Optic neuropathy which at current their is no cure or treatment.

Ashley is now registered severely visually impaired and uses a white stick to aid him using roads. He receently began to learn braille due to not being able to rear text any longer.

Their is currently some trials going on in Newcastle University looking into slowing the sight loss down.

I am running the bath Half Marathon on the 2nd March 2014 to raise money to be sent to the reasearch team in Newcastle as they rely on fundraising to fund their research.
