We support people who face mental health challenges in Dundee and surrounding areas, towards better mental health and wellbeing. We provide one to one support and group work to help build skills and confidence including music, art, up-cycling, walking, gardening and a range of outdoor activities.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I wanted to update this.  All around us, ourselves, family, friends, colleagues  . .  most of us know of someone who has suffered from mental health difficulties.  It is one of those unseen conditions which is easily dismissed simply because we can not  put a plaster on it but can be immensely debilitating.  In Dundee I am very aware of the need to support the services available to help those with a variety of mental health difficulties.  Members of my family are affected by mental health issues, it affects more than that individual.  I wanted to really support a local charity that may be overlooked.   Not only this but I know through my own business and time at university, that physical activity can help the individuals manage their condition. What better way for me to demonstrate my support than by running 4 marathons in 4 days, I managed to achieve this goal & it blew my mind.  But while running I realised how much running for charity and having that driving force behind me really helped me in those dark moments.  I really believe its important to help others get the support they need and deserve to see out of the other side of what can be a very dark veil.  This support via DAMH can be in the use of their physical activities.  So many added benefits to taking part in these.

I decided to extend my challenge, I will now be taking on Tough Guy the Original:  http://www.toughguy.co.uk/#!about/c10fk

Those who know me, know this will be a big ask, I am NOT, can I repeat NOT a fan of water.  The only time I tend to venture in, is if I have access to a bouyancy aid  ....... no joke!!!  Water wings anyone????

Earlier this year I was also pulled out of The epic Nuts Challenge by some really fantastic marshalls for hypothermia and helped by the great medics that attend these events.  My then coach Michael Cohen and my teammates were equally fantastic in supporting me afterwards.

This is taking me outside of my comfort zone, something many of you will enjoy but at the same time I hope will support me in my fundraising efforts in any way you can.  I do not fundraise as a rule simply because I do run lots of runs/ races.  This is the exception and very worthy cause.

Thank you in advance for your support.  I will update you all on my training and if you would like to come along to one of my sessions please feel free to give me a shout on my facebook page:  Louise Johnstone OCR Racer.
