Anyone that knows me, knows that I hate running - I truly despise the activity. However, I have somewhat foolishly signed up to run 13.5 miles for an organisation that's worth every blister and muscle spasm.
I am fundraising for the Croydon branch - a Branch I have been volunteering at since May 2017. Everyone here from Director to trainee, is unpaid and gives up a large amount of their time to ensure that people from across the country feel heard. Approximately 50,000 people call Samaritans each week, desperate for emotional support and a listening ear, so being a volunteer means being available to support callers in all circumstances, whether that be bereavement, a really bad day or suicide.
My personal goal as a Samaritan is to ensure that no one feels like they have to face their struggles alone. So whether you are a fellow volunteer; have called us in the past or know someone who has; or you simply believe it to be a worthwhile cause - hit the donate button (a little will go a long way) as the branch can only keep running with donations and money raised.
Thanks so much for your support!
