Story

I will be hiking the final leg of the French way covering 112km in 6 days. Starting in Sarria and ending in Santiago de Compostela to raise funds for Newry Hospice.

My Granny Joan passed away here and I cannot thank the staff enough for their help during this time. They gave exceptional care to my Granny and supported us as a family. My Granny was courageous and always up for a challenge. She always encouraged me to try new things and do my best.

I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2016 after witnessing a terror attack in London and since then everyday life, especially travel, has been a struggle. Part of my therapy goals are to travel again and what better way to do it than to combine it with raising money for a fantastic cause. And I know my Granny will be cheering me on the entire way.

The SAHS provides care free of charge to local people with terminal illness and their families/carers. They cater for almost 1,000 patients annually. The services include inpatient care, palliative care units, home care nurses, bereavement services and counselling and therapy services.

I hope you can join me in celebrating the fantastic work everyone in the SAHS do by donating. As the saying goes "every little helps." Thank you.
