Story
This coming May, I’ll be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK—a charity doing vital work in research, support, and early diagnosis.
This cause is deeply personal to me because my wonderful mum is currently living with colon cancer. She doesn’t like any fuss or attention, so this isn’t about sharing her story publicly. It’s simply my way of honouring her strength, supporting others going through the same thing, and contributing to work that can save lives.
Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK, yet early detection can make it treatable and curable. More awareness, improved research, and continued support for patients and families truly matters.
I’m starting training as a complete beginner, and this will be a real challenge for me (at this point in time I wouldn’t be able to run the length of myself) — but one I’m committed to seeing through.
I’ll be running alongside Gary, my incredibly supportive (but also equally as unfit😂) partner, who has signed up to run with me for moral support, which means so much.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean a lot and help others facing bowel cancer.
Thank you for supporting me, and supporting everyone affected by this disease 🩷
For my mum x
