At Level Water, we use the power of swimming to improve lives for children with disabilities. Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page.

Well before my spinal cord had its challenges  And as a consequence became disabled 6 years ago I hadn’t enjoyed swimming in a pool.  In fact I spent more time in the toilet having a wee due to the volume of pool water consumed.

Now I can’t run or bike or do much else.  I retried the swimming.  For some reason unbeknownst to me I managed to swim in a pool without taking on board water,

The next step was open water - spurred on by my partner Mandy and swimming coach Su.  All I can say now is I am hooked,  love it.  Feel an equal to all other people in the water, but just a bit slower as the legs are an issue.

Swimming is a life skill for all, but it is so important to get children living with a disablility moving.  It not only has the tried and tested physical effects but also socialisation, confidence building and mental health benefits. Generally children with disabilities are less likely to participate in sport - Level Water helps to address this imbalance.

So  as I try to swim from up river to the sea using only my arms and lungs, for what will be 5.5km, as I can’t get off the beach at 6km due to the terrain and steepness, please would you consider sponsoring me, even if it’s 50p.  It all helps support a great cause.
