Thanks for supporting my fundraising. To introduce myself, I am a 40 year old wife and mum. In my spare time I am a headteacher in Cheshire. 

In 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a mastectomy followed by chemotherapy. After contracting sepsis twice, it was decided that I had probably had enough treatment to cure me so I did not have my last round of chemo.

In 2019, I had a second mastectomy for preventative purposes. Then in August 2020, I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer which had spread to my lungs and lymph nodes.

Four days later, it was back to school for the start of a new academic year and what a year it has been so far! I have a wonderful family and a large network of friends plus an absolutely amazing team of staff and supportive governors. 

I had 12 weeks of chemotherapy and was very fortunate that this time I found it quite tolerable, so was able to continue working full time. 

Having finished chemo just in time for Christmas, I chosen to set myself this challenge of walking 100 miles to raise money for Macmillan.

I have chosen Macmillan for all of the care, warmth and kindness that they show towards people with cancer and their families. Whether it is supporting with having someone to talk to, supporting with finances or being caring and compassionate at the end of a person's time on this planet, they are always there.
