Louise's Hadrian's Wall Walk 2009 · 4 June 2009
Welcome to Louise's Fundraising page
I've always wanted to complete a big walk, if only as a personal challenge and to tick it off my "Things to do before I kick the bucket list".
Well I did it! I starting on July 29th, I walked the whole 84 miles of the Hadrian's Wall path from Bowness on Solway in the west to the Roman museum, Segedunum in Wallsend in Tyneside in the east. I had planned to walk it in 5 straight days but we had car trouble and so I ended up doing it in sections over 9 afternoons, over 40 hours 42 minutes and finishing on 08/08/09.
It was a great personal challenge, I was on my own most of the time, had my dog, Jack with me for 2 days, my 11 year old daughter for 2 days and on a few occasions I had company going in the same direction, we had a lovely chat and you kept me going.
Thank you to those who sponsored me whether, half way up a crag, as we passed at the end or start of our journeys in Newcastle and after meeting on the walk, you are all stars, hope you all finish it too!
I was charged by a ginger cow, just as I came down a steep crag and got followed along the riverbank in Carliisle which was rather worrying.
All that effort, 7 blisters and 2 lost toe nails, was to raise money for the CANCER RESEARCH UK charity, a charity close to my heart because so many of my friends and relatives have fought personal battles with cancer of one form or another. A few are currently undergoing treatment and are recovering well. This is my way of giving something back to those who made survival possible to so many.

The full Hadrian's Wall trail runs for 84 miles from Bowness on Solway in Cumbria, on the west coast to Wallsend in Northumbria on the east coast.
Please follow the link below and feel free to donate as little or as much as you like, it'll be closing in October. Better still, pass the link on to all your friends and family.
Thanks,
Louise
