This June 2014 I will be going to Tanzania for 10 weeks with a group of fellow volunteers, as part of Raleigh's International Citizens Service. Unlike other expeditions, 6 UK volunteers will be working alongside 6 in-country volunteers together in groups to improve health and sanitation. We will be working in some of the poorest communities in Tanzania, where we will research and tailor our projects to the needs of the community. Previous projects include building eco-sanitation toilets, tippy-taps and promoting health awareness, especially amongst children. 

Whilst I'm away, I will be sleeping in a tent with no phone, no internet and no running water, in a new and challenging environment. I expect to learn a lot and to bring my experiences with me on my return home, where I will continue to raise awareness with a sustainability project in my own community.
