Louise and Elaine's Dry November · 14 November 2017

We work with young people affected by displacement and crisis, enabling them to access, remain and progress in education at all stages of their journey. By fundraising or making a donation, you can bring hope, direction and the opportunity to learn to the 3,500 unaccompanied minors in the UK.

Story

Anyone who knows Elaine and I, will know we like a drink. Or two. Or three. And, after one-too-many fun nights out, we decided to give Dry November a go before the festive season kicks in.

Two weeks in and we're struggling. The fridge has never looked so empty or boring and we have, ourselves, turned into Dull Deirdres. So, we needed an incentive. And what better incentive than to raise money for a worthwhile cause?

As we are giving our livers a rest in preparation for the fun and frolics of Christmas, our thoughts turned to those that wouldn't be having such an amazing time with family and friends in a warm, carefree environment. In fact, the young people we are raising money for would have left their home towns in fear of their lives, fleeing persecution. And while that is reason enough to want to help, many of these young refugees are then preyed upon for human trafficking purposes, making their lives unbearable. It just doesn't bear thinking about.

Of the mindset that we were lucky enough to have been born in this privileged country by accident of birth, we feel it's only right to help others enjoy the same safe and enjoyable existence we do here in the UK. So we wanted to support this charity in their efforts to help young refugees that are fleeing war, crisis, and trafficking, enabling them to have a better, brighter, HAPPIER, future through support and education.

Please donate what you can - it will truly help us get through the next few weeks without picking up a tipple! Thank you SO much!
