Story
A word from Eddie: Hi all I am training to do the London landmark half a marathon I am an alcoholic and I am a father to all of my children. I am in biggest fight of my life to try and stay clean one day at time the reason I am running this is because I am fully aware of what my drinking does to my children being in recovery opened my eyes up listening to lots of people stories of how they felt when they were children when their parents was always drinking or using so please any donations at all would be so grateful and would be even more grateful for the children what will get benefit from this. Thank you for taking part.
A word from Louise: as a child of alcoholic parents I know the damage alcohol causes families first hand and the effects it has on future generations. I lost my sister due to alcohol and would do anything to turn back the clock to change things for her and make everything better. Since I can’t do that we’re running this marathon to help save these children. Please help us help them, anything would be greatly appreciated
Nacoa (The National Association for Children of alcoholics) is a Bristol based charity founded in 1990 to provide help and support for everyone affected by a parent’s drinking. We believe that every child has the right to a happy childhood and to live a creative and meaningful life but when drink is the family secret they are more likely to experience family violence, neglect and other problems in their own homes.
