The Media department at Walsall College host an end of year film festival annually to celebrate the talent of our students. As a part of this years 'Love and Life Film Festival' we are raising money for Mind. We have all been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in different ways and our mental health has suffered due to lockdown or through loss. The department really wants to encourage our students to understand the importance of speaking about their emotions and seeking support for their mental health. 

Mind states, “We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect”  https://www.mind.org.uk/

This years final major project will showcase students exploring Binary Oppositions and producing moving image productions which showcase accurate and fair representations of disability, mental health, LGBTQ+ and People of Colour. So many Media portrayals are careless with representation and our students are encouraged to challenge this. Throughout the process of production students will need to evidence ways that they have raised money and encourage donations to this page.
