Step out with us for a magical sponsored 5K trail through historic Knaresborough, celebrating light, life and love. Carry a lantern, and welcome the springtime, on an evening to treasure in support of your hometown hospice.

Story

Milo and Clemmie’s crazy, larger than life Nanny,  Tom's beloved Mum, Elaine Aggiss, joined her soulmate, their Poppy, Ian,  in what we like to think of as the Heavenly Garden, on 1st June 2019.

Elaine spent her final days on this earthly plain in the wonderful St. Michael’s Hospice, Harrogate (North Yorkshire). We feel so blessed and privileged to have been able to have had the shared family experience of this level of care in such a genteel building and breathtaking setting at the end.  St. Michael’s is truly a special place.

Milo and Clemmie are joining Daddy,  Mummy, Uncle James, Auntie Jacqui, Great Auntie Susan and 2 of Nanny’s friends Jayne and Helen on St. Michael’s Twilight Walk – a magical sponsored 5km trail through historic Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, to celebrate Nanny’s light, life and love. They will carry a twinkling glass lantern, banish Winter and welcome the springtime, on a magical, musical, colourful evening to treasure always in support of St. Michael’s and in tribute to Nanny.

We all want other families experiencing the devastation of terminal illness and bereavement to benefit from St. Michael’s the way we did, and to help St. Michael’s to continue to provide its own special warm glow in other people's darkest days.

When the children/we all raise £100 or more, we will receive a b
beautiful keepsake ceramic heart lantern as a reminder of the occasion and of all the support received. We would ideally like to raise at least £100 per walker.

We appreciate that many who read/see this won’t have known Mum/Nanny /Elaine,and will not be local to Harrogate, so we know this is a big ask when there are so many charities needing financial support, so we have no expectations/make no judgement.

But to those who are able to donate something, however tiny, please rest assured that all personal sponsorship goes towards patient care provision at St. Michael's.

More information about Saint Michael's Hospice: Saint Michael's exists to help people with terminal illness to live and die well. We do this by offering specialist care, comfort and support, free of charge, to patients and their families. We are an independent charity helping over 2000  people in the Harrogate and Ripon District each year, and we make no charge. Each year we must raise £6 million - we rely on your fundraising and support.
