Event: Brecon Beacons Night Hike 2019, on 22 March 2019
Join the Cancer Research Wales team as we take on the Brecon Beacons at nightfall, fighting for a Wales without cancer.

Story

The Lunatreks are trekking once more! Following it's success last year, 15 Lovell South Wales & South West team members, known as the 'Lunatreks' will be taking to the mountain once again for the Cancer Research Wales Night Hike on Friday 22nd March 2019.

The Lovell Lunatreks will join Cancer Research Wales and take on the Brecon Beacons at night fall.

This year’s walk will be a particularly poignant one as it will be in memory of Tom Walker, a 13 year old boy from Monmouthshire who also hiked the Mountain in March last year. Tom sadly fell ill on Monday 28th May 2018, and after just over two weeks of slow decline with a range of conditions, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia on Wednesday 13th June. His condition rapidly worsened while he was having an operation on Thursday 14th June and he died after returning to intensive care that afternoon. Therefore, all funds raised at this year’s Night Hike will go towards vital research specifically for Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
