Story

Hello, hello,

As some of you may know, the Leggy Thoroughbred & the Pit Pony (Rach & I) have been training for some time for the Forest of Dean Half Marathon on the 30th September (this Sunday –eek!). Neither Rach nor I have run this far before and the race has a number of ‘interesting hill challenges’ that we think are going to be quite tough.

Training has been largely painful with some (reasonably rare) highs but now that the race day is nearly upon us we need your help in making all of the blood, sweat, tears, aching muscles, purple toenails (yes, very attractive) and incidents with wild boar worth it.

We are running in memory of my godfather's wonderful wife, Sue, who so sadly passed away in March and are raising funds for Paul's chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support. So please help us achieve something wonderful in memory of someone wonderful and for all of Sue’s family. We promise to run our hearts out trying…and will crawl to the finish on our hands and knees if we have to.

For anyone wishing to throw Jellybabies at us in a supportive manner on the day; the run starts & finishes at Speech House (near Cinderford in the Forest of Dean) on Sunday (30th September). The half marathon starts promptly at 10am. More info can be found here:

So please, please support us. We know that times are tight so ANY donation, no matter how big or small, are appreciated – and we’re not just saying that: £1 really IS better than nothing (and will stop me badgering you). So please don't force me to come running after you with a big stick. I have a hockey stick in my car (you can check) and I'm fitter than I used to be ;0)

You're only a few clicks away from the that warm, smug glow of having done a good thing - so keep on going (and I'll put the stick away). This page will stay active for three months after Sunday so if you're reading this after the 30th September - don't worry, you're not too late to donate :0)

We love you all (really, we do. We're just a bit rubbish at showing it).
Thank you in advance,

Ali & Rach xxx
