Story

Sunday 20th May - UPDATED STOP PRESS!!!!

Well we made it. I am delighted to say that your support not only hugely helped us get around the Lakes but we actually won the award for the fastest over 50s team. We got around in just under 9 hours and in fact came 11th out of the 46 teams who completed the tougher course. Another 65 teams wandered around the shorter versions.

The weather was spectacularly beautiful, in total contrast to last year. Barely a cloud in the sky and views that are almost impossible to describe so i won't bother. Any number of photos to see if you really want to, the one above was taken about ¾ of the way around on top of Blake Rigg.

It was a severe test with some of the steepest slopes that I certainly have ever attempted, 70 degrees and more, a genuine test - as it is supposed to be. The weird thing about the Lakes is the less you have heard of a mountain the more of a pig it turns out to be. If anyone ever asks you to have a lovely climb up the east side of Wetherlam, just say no, trust me!

We actually managed to get up this morning without having to roll out of bed and are fighting fit for the rest of what 2018 has to offer us.

Thank you again for your generosity, it is massively appreciated by those for less fortunate than ourselves who have already given as much as we could ever ask for.
