Story

17th January 2023: This past weekend was the first time I've stepped back into my running gear since I had two asthma attacks at the end of the marathon at the start of October, which were a first for me, and a bit of a scare...

Inspired by 'Olivia Finches Fight' (please support her progress here: https://www.instagram.com/olivia_finches_fight/)

Through Olivia's journey, I discovered this wonderful charity that are 'passionate about speeding up pioneering clinical research that will improve outcomes for children'.

Did you know that...

  • 4,500 children are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK
  • Cancer is the leading cause of death in children aged between 1-14 years
  • Childhood cancers are different to the cancers that affect adults, and therefore, dedicated research into causes and treatments is needed
  • 100 Children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma each year in the UK
  • There is just a 40% Long-term survival rate for children diagnosed with ‘high-risk’ neuroblastoma
  • 40% of Children diagnosed with ‘high-risk’ neuroblastoma won't respond completely to standard treatment, or will relapse after it
  • There is only a 5% chance of survival for children diagnosed with 'high-risk' neuroblastoma if they relapse
Shockingly, only around 2% of cancer research funding in the UK* is spent on research that is fully dedicated to childhood and young adult cancer, making your donation vital in the fight against childhood cancer.
Because the NHS does not get much funding for these children, charities like these are relied upon by families to research treatments to give these children a cancer-free future.

They also provide 'emotional, practical and financial support, impartial information on the latest treatments available and supports families to access treatments and clinical trials not currently available within the NHS.

Thank you so much for any support towards our goal!
