LSEWRFC Dry January

LSEWRFC Dry January · 28 December 2018
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK.
Globally, It is the 2nd leading cause of death in those aged 15-24 years.
These statistics are extremely scary.
PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide.
Many suicides are preventable, PAPYRUS offers that help to individuals and their families at crisis point. Their invaluable skills have helped so many people, inclusive of some women in our team.
LSE Women's Rugby have decided to take part in dry January, not only to improve our physical health but to understand better the effects of alcohol on mental health. All while raising money for PAPYRUS a charity very close to our hearts.
We shall finish off the month with a mass relay race, running over 70km in total for the cause.
PAPYRUS has its helpline called HOPELINEUK, a confidential call, text and email helpline for young people that has helped countless numbers of people. Every £5 donated can help keep up this HOPELINEUL as well as other resources in Schools to open lines of communication to talk about mental health.
Lets 'tackle' this together.
