LTSB is a national charity. We enable bright young people in Birmingham, London, Manchester, and now Liverpool to prove their worth and have a real opportunity to secure professional careers that would otherwise be denied to them.

We inspire employers to diversify leadership, especially within finance, business and professional services sectors. And we raise aspirations for young people, leading to improved prospects and salaries, and more stable homes and families.

The event:

Six of our young people from the Birmingham cohort - along with one member of the LTSB team - are running 8.5 miles on Sunday 4th June 2017 with the Great Midlands Fun Run, to help raise funds for the charity.

Denny, Jemel, Khizar, Liam, Rahil and Shorif - along with James - are challenging themselves to run the entire course. It may be a "fun run" but it will not be easy!

The cause:

We provide young people with experiences and opportunities they would not otherwise receive, and demonstrably transform lives.

We deliver a pre-apprenticeship programme where members of the cohort develop leadership skills including coaching skills (in the case of the Birmingham cohort, working with Aston Villa Foundation). We work with training providers to equip the cohort with AAT Level 2 accountancy qualifications. And we ensure they are prepared for the world of work, and secure them an AAT Level 3 apprenticeship with high-quality employers.

It costs the charity around £4,500 per young person.

And that's why we're asking for your help. Your contribution will help us to deliver more activities and support more bright young people who face disadvantage, and find them secure professional careers.

The evidence:

We get results. Of the running team, Denny has just started work at Mazars and is really enjoying his work as an audit assistant. Liam and Rahil are about to start in the finance team at Rolls Royce.

Please help us to continue this vital work.
