Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
Those who know me know that I love to keep fit and regularly go to the gym, but running isn’t something I find easy or enjoy doing - at all! I have even adopted the nickname Helen ‘Hates Running’ Gatward because I hate running so much; I really struggle to run any kind of distance, I can't pace myself and I also get bored after a couple of minutes of trying to run!
Being an LTFC fan since the age of 10, I always like to get involved where I can and am now on the committee for Luton Town Supporters' Trust. When the opportunity was suggested to represent LTST at the Love Luton 10k run at the end of October and to raise much needed funds for Keech Hospice Care – who have been chosen as the ‘Luton Town Supporters' Charity of the Year’ for the 2017/2018 season – it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down, especially as I actively volunteer for Keech Hospice Care at events throughout the year.
Keech Hospice Care is a Bedfordshire-based charity that provides care for both adults and children with terminal and life-limiting illnesses, and offers support to their families. To provide these services and continue their vital work, Keech Hospice Care needs to fundraise a staggering £5.7m each and every year.
Although I keep fit by going to the gym, running is a whole different ball-game to throwing punches in a boxing class! I have only ever done one 5k run (and I did have to stop and walk some of it), so a 10k run with my dodgy knee and dodgy back will be a massive challenge for me!
My aim is to complete the 10k without having to walk and to cross the finish line within an hour - whilst wearing my Luton Town shirt of course! So it would be really great if you could support me and help me with my challenge by helping me reach my target amount. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure so please dig deep and help support their amazing work.
Thanks! Helen xxx
