My charity is Level Water, who provide free swimming lessons to disabled children. It's too easy for able bodied people like me to forget and take for granted what comes so easily for us, and since I am my happiest in water, it means a lot to me to help others find their joy and freedom in this way.

I have decided to swim this race in honour and memory of my dear friend Fliss who sadly left us last September. She had such a massive heart and I miss her every day. She loved kids, though sadly couldn't have her own. I know she'd approve, and be behind me every stroke of the way. I know it will help me when I can't be bothered to train in the cold water, or when I feel like I'm too tired to carry on, to think of her and her incredible strength.This one's for you, Flissy-pooh. 💖
