Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Willa and I will be walking from London to Shropshire starting on the 17th August 2021. It is a distance of approximately 170 miles, which we are hoping to complete within a week. We will be starting from Chiswick, and following the Grand Union Canal to Birmingham, then cross country for the rest of the route, with the hope of staying with friends and family along the way.

We will be doing it in memory of Dada who very sadly died on 12th September 2014 at the age of 58.  He was a very, very loved man who is hugely missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him. Dada was a constant support to all our family, friends, godchildren etc and would light up every single room he walked into - he could talk to anyone, and everyone, and had a love for life which was hugely admirable and contagious.

Having survived throat cancer twice, once before myself and my twin were born, and again for the second time when we were nine months old, it was extremely sad to lose him to a heart attack.  But we are grateful to have had him for as long as we did after so many health problems, with cancer being the largest. Therefore we have chosen to support the charity Oracle Cancer Trust whose founder Peter Rhys-Evans was Dada's surgeon, and who was such an incredible support to him and the rest of our family.

The Oracle Cancer Trust is the UK's national leading charity solely dedicated to funding research into head and neck cancer. Oracle’s pioneering research work, led by some of the world’s leading authorities on head and neck cancer treatment has resulted in breakthroughs in delivering new surgical techniques, radiotherapy treatment, speech and language therapy, drug development and virus and immunotherapies.

Willa and I are really up for the challenge, blisters and all, and would be seriously grateful for any donations big or small. We can't wait to keep you updated along the way!

THANK YOU! #TEAMROB
