A little bit about why we're doing what we're doing....
Each year, over 8,000 babies are delivered at Birmingham Women's Hospital. For the majority of parents and their families, the new arrival of a baby son or daughter is a wonderful, life-changing experience. Sadly, however, for some families, this cannot always be the case.
The Summer Party Live, with your help, intends to raise money and awareness for the "Ward 8 Project"
During such a distressing, emotional and draining time, mothers and families require a quiet, safe and spiritual environment enabling them to come to terms with their loss. At present there is a Bereavment suite in which mothers and families who experience the hardship of a baby son or daughters' death can grieve. However, women who miscarriage or lose their baby during pregnancy, although cared for by the outstanding BWH staff, have no such area in which their long and difficult journey can start.
The Ward 8 Project, through your charity and fund raising can take every step closer to creating surroundings silimiar to the bereavement suite, Sadly whilst nothing can change the unfortunate outcome, Birmingham Women's Hospital believe that by improving the physical surroundings, then we can, at least, create more comforting surroundings for ladies and their families during their hospital stay. They aim to create a calm, relaxed haven-type ambience and environment. These rooms will hold much significance for many during times of upset and sadness.
