The Vitality Big Half 2020 · 1 March 2020 ·
Saira and Lucilla are taking on the challenge of a half marathon in aid of Link Age Southwark.
Both of us work for this fantastic charity which tackles loneliness and isolation amongst older people in the London borough of Southwark, as well as those living with dementia.
Old age and dementia are not glamorous charitable causes, but they are growing problems in our society today with huge knock-on health effects.
Link Age Southwark helps people who are alone and can often go for days without contact from the outside world. For some, a visit from their befriender or a trip to one of our participatory groups can be a lifeline which can transform their quality of life. These services also benefit those caring for people with dementia and help alleviate the isolation they can also experience.
We strongly believe in the work of this charity and see first-hand the impact of the work that they do, especially Saira who works to coordinate our dementia services. We hope that our passion for the cause of reducing loneliness and isolation shines through in our dedication to train and run the Big Half.
A little compassion goes a long way - please consider supporting us with sponsorship if you can.
If you are not in a position to donate but like the sound of what Link Age Southwark does, please consider becoming a volunteer with us! Information is available on the website and we have many opportunities available to suit a range of skills. You may also know someone who could benefit from our services and you can also find information about how to make a referral for them on our website: www.linkagesouthwark.org
