We enable physically disabled people to to enjoy inclusion through technology

Story

Hello!

As some of you may know, I make video games for a living. While it is literally all fun and games (interspersed with a lot of hard work), there are those with physical disabilities that don't have the luxury of being able to play them! That's why fourteen of my colleagues and myself from Splash Damage. will be doing Tough Mudder for SpecialEffect in an effort to raise money for their cause.

SpecialEffect is a charity that enables those with disabilities to play and interact with video games and leisure technology. They create custom peripherals and devices that can be used for interfacing with modern game systems and computers, so those with disabilities can enjoy games just as much as anyone else!

Their work significantly enhances the quality of hundreds of lives.

Here are a few videos telling the stories of how donations to Special Effect are making a difference to these young gamers.

I ask of you to dig deep into your pockets and give whatever you can to what I think is a very worthy cause. :)

All the best,

Luc.

Special Effect

SpecialEffect enable severely disabled people to use computers in any way possible – using whichever part(s) of their body that work best - by adapting technology to their individual needs.

Almost always, the people we help feel trapped in their bodies. It’s so important they can join in with family/friends, to be included and not left out. This can hugely benefit rehabilitation, mental wellbeing, self-esteem and quality of life.

We specialise in Eye Control Technology. Imagine: You wake up after an accident. You can’t move anything except your eyes. And you can’t speak. Through eye-movement alone, we help people operate a computer so they can communicate and regain a little independence - giving them a voice when they don’t have one of their own.
