Story

For anyone who doesn’t know me my name is Lucy, I live In England with my 3 year old son and my husband.

We recently found out the devastating news that I am a carrier of this awful disease, which means that I potentially will not be around to see my 40’s, or watch my son graduate from school, bring home his first girlfriend, or see my son hit his teenage years. After further tests the doctors have told me I will more than likely fall Ill in my early 30’s. At the moment time is still on my side, so I want to do anything and everything I can to help find a cure to save other people’s lives and potentially my life!

The disease is prion dementia, ( early on set dementia) I watched my mum sadly pass away from this cruel disease and i don’t want my son watching me go the same way.

I currently have put myself forward for studies with the hospital which involves yearly tests to help with their research, but I want to do more. I feel they are potentially SO close to finding a drug that will help slow down the disease I want to try and raise as much money as I can to give directly to the charity, to help fund crucial drug trials or help towards it!

Please share this so it goes far and wide, please donate anything you can even if it’s a £1! That £1 is still better than nothing  any donation would be greatly appreciated and hopefully it helps towards finding a cure to save people like me!

Support us to find a cure for Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). There is currently no cure but every day scientists and doctors are getting closer to finding a treatment. We aim to raise funds to support the use of an antibody drug developed for the treatment of patients with CJD. The first patient was treated at UCLH in October 2018.
