One of the biggest obstacles facing young people today is access to meaningful employment opportunities. For many, the challenge of getting a break and a chance to build a sustainable career is as big and daunting as climbing Mount Everest.

So, in recognition of the challenges many young people face, the Bristol Private Sector team from Talent International will be tackling the distance between base camp to the peak of Everest, a total of 20km or 12.2 miles (as the crow flies).

We’ll be doing this by completing a 20km row as a team relay in our office gym. We’’ be doing this as a healthy competition between ourselves and the Public Sector team, with each team aiming to finish first and raise the most funds.

Funds raised will support registered charity Talent RISE, enabling them to deliver work readiness programs and workshops, deliver coaching and mentoring support, cover travel costs for young people to attend interviews or work opportunities, the costs of suitable work clothing and much more.

Every donation makes a difference with as little as £5 helping support a young person on their journey to meaningful employment.

Talent RISE is personally a very important charity to myself as the charity helped me get to the place I am today with my career. I was struggling a lot having been on benefits and at a very low point in my life, when I got introduced to Talent RISE through my local job centre. After a long chat, RISE assisted me in getting an interview for my current position at Talent on the kickstarter program. Now 9 months down the line I have a permanent position at Talent and I am thriving everyday! If it wasn't for RISE I wouldn't have found my dream job and a team I class as family.
