Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am completing the Iron Man Challenge on Sunday 26th July 2015, I will complete a 2.4 mile open water swim, followed by a 112 road ride, finishing with a 26.2 mile run, all one after the other. I am raising money for The Grace Research Fund which was set up by Coventry residents Tracy and Simon Hayes, in memory of their daughter Grace who was born 14 weeks early at Walsgrave Hospital. She weighed only 1lb and, at five months, went home on oxygen. Unfortunately, due to her lung condition and extreme prematurity she developed pulmonary hypertension and died in Birmingham Children's Hospital aged nine months.
Tracy and Simon established the Grace Research Fund to finance and support research into improving the well-being of premature babies and their families in Coventry and Warwickshire. In some cases, the findings of research projects have impacted neonatal care nationally.
When my son Charlie was born 10 weeks premature he was very poorly and on numerous occasions my wife and I were told he may not survive but thanks to medical research such as The Grace Research fund he survived.
