Lucy's World Cancer Day Running Challenge · 30 January 2021

Every day 11 people are diagnosed with cancer at Addenbrooke's Hospital. Help us raise £100,000 to help adults and children live through cancer.

Story

In celebration of World Cancer Day (4th February), I am taking on a personal running challenge to thank the team at Addenbrooke's who treated me for cancer in 2019 and the early part of 2020, and to help raise funds to support current and future cancer patients who have to face going through treatment in the midst of a pandemic..

The challenge - to Jog or Run 50k during the month of February. To raise money for Addenbrooke's and CRUK (two separate fundraising pages) for World Cancer Day and to mark almost a year since I finished treatment

It's taken a while to build up my strength and fitness, and I am still not sure I will be able to do but I am pretty determined to complete it, even if I have to walk parts of it!

As we are still in Lockdown, I will be donating the money I would have spent on take away coffees. I know money is tight right now but if you feel like you would want to treat me to a cup of coffee (or something stronger!) if we were meeting up in person then please donate the coffee money instead to one of my two fundraising pages. This will make me very happy and will help cancer patients who are going through treatment right now and in the future :-)

As a UK leading cancer care specialist, Addenbrookes wants to ensure that each of those patients has access to quality patient care, improving outcomes, the hospital experience and support.Help us make cancer services at Addenbrookes even better.
