*POST RACE UPDATE & THANK YOU!!*
I can barely walk but I did it! 4 hours 11 minutes (and not forgetting 40 seconds).
I want to now thank each and every person who has supported me. I have been overwhelmed by your generous donations and heartfelt messages of support - family, friends, colleagues, and anonymous supporters. I have been particularly touched in the last week by the messages and donations from families who have been supported by CLIC Sargent.
A special mention to:
- Robin Briggs for being my major donor and donating £200!!
- To my gorgeous friend Jackie for your huge fundraising efforts, stand out placards, generally thinking of every detail, and being there in the crowd and afterwards with so much champagne and love.
- To my dear family for so much support and being there all day cheering me on even when I ran past oblivious!
- To my lovely colleagues for all your baking cakes and cheering on the day!
- The wonderful support from the crowds which really carried me through those last few miles and reminded me that human beings are essentially good!
- Finally I want to thank Don and Shannon. Shannon taught us all to smile, be strong and positive, even when life is taking everything from you. I dedicated mile 26 in Shannon’s memory. Somehow outside Buckingham Palace I found the strength to sprint.
Thank you all so much - it is a day I will never ever forget and thanks to you we have raised over £3,000 for CLIC Sargent.

*JUSTGIVING PAGE SUMMARY*
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I want to raise £3,000 for CLIC Sargent. CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families. CLIC Sargent limits the damage cancer causes beyond health and provides tailored and specialist support.
CLIC Sargent is a charity close to my heart. I have worked as a Peadiatric Social Worker for CLIC Sargent at the Royal Marsden Hospital for the last 4 years. In my role, I am often struck by the incredible endurance, resilience and determination of children, young people and their families - as they receive devastating news, undergo gruelling treatments, financial strain, and of course disruption to general life. The ability to keep going and somehow rebuild one’s life whatever the outcome is something I am incredibly moved by.
I was supported as a young adult by CLIC Sargent 10 years ago when treated for Lymphoma. This experience later motivated me to work for the charity.
So - I am running 26 miles in April 2019 with the determination to keep going in mind and with the knowledge of the difference CLIC Sargent makes to young lives. I am running for all the children, young people and their families I know, have known and don’t know whose lives have been affected by childhood cancer.
CLIC Sargent rely on donations to fund their vital work. Any donations are very gratefully received and will go some way to ensure young lives get the support they need.
Thank you 💛
Lucy
