Story

Hi everyone! As some of you may recall I walked an ultra marathon with Ally and Fran at the beginning of July. We managed to walk 50 miles in 20 hours and 46 minutes. There were plenty of tears, blisters and jokes along the way and is something we are still so proud of completing.

I'm still in shock at how many people donated and how much money we raised! But unfortunately the wrong page was setup and so all of the money we raised was returned to those who donated it...

So this is another page to try and raise that money again. If anybody would like to donate/re-donate it would be so appreciated!

I'm raising the money to be able to purchase a Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) machine for the Neurology Therapy team at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Our team see inpatients at both Gloucester and Cheltenham hospitals, as well as a small outpatient service at Gloucester hospital, for patients with neurological conditions who would benefit from specialised therapy input.

This input can be rehabilitation to return to a previous functional level, advice, education or prescription of positional guides for long-term management of progressive conditions. Conditions we often treat include Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's Disease (PD), Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) and spinal cord injuries.

As healthcare professionals our therapy team aim to follow clinical guidance from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) to provide the best patient care. NICE (2009) recommend considering the use of FES for the management of drop foot of central neurological origin. This is something we would love to be able to assess for locally, in order to provide evidence for patients to potentially receive CCG funding for their own device.

So the page has been setup again in the hope we can restart the process of getting our own machine. Thank you so much for even reading my blurb! <3
