It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running the 2014 London Marathon for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

My godmother and close family friend, Gillian Rees, died only 2 months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It was an irreplaceable loss to anyone who knew her. Gillian would be the key person supporting me through this sort of challenge, so I can only do something like this, by dedicating it to her.

Pancreatic Cancer UK gets very little by way of funding compared to other charities, 1% of UK research funding. This is mainly due to the very low survival rate, the lowest of all cancers. I want to help raise awareness of some of the early symptoms, like onset diabetes or drastic weight loss, as the disease is often diagnosed very late. You can read about these at http://www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/information-and-support/facts-about-pancreatic-cancer/signs-and-symptoms

I hope, with your help, to raise money which will help fund research and earlier screening techniques.
