Royal Parks Half Marathon 2018 · 14 October 2018 ·
On Sunday 14th October 2018 I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon – a terrifying 13.1 miles - for Crohn's & Colitis UK, raising vital funds for the fight against Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and other forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Before 2017 I couldn’t have told you a single thing about Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis, not of the chronic pain its’ sufferers endure, nor the endless bouts of medication to simply live a normal day. I came to know Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis, after being diagnosed with Coeliac Disease last year – although not the same illness, both are debilitating and considerably affect people’s daily lives. Currently there is no cure; a combination of medication, therapy and positive attitude is what’s getting these people through day-to-day and it has to change. It is for all these people and what they go through, that will get me around the 13.1 mile stretch, raising as much awareness as I possibly can for this amazing charity and cause. Any money that you can spare will help Crohn’s and Colitis UK fund amazing research to find a permanent cure for these life-altering illnesses.
Now anyone that knows me will surely be shocked, as I am not and have never been a runner…at all. A couple of 5km jogs are the extent of my running career and I wasn’t really looking to change that, however after close friends and family members being recently diagnosed I realised that getting myself around the course is nothing compared to what they deal with every day.
So here’s to the next few months, where there will be lots of running, sweating, crying, gluten-free pasta eating, and hopefully a whole lot of fundraising!
I would be incredibly grateful if you could make all of the tears (mine!) worthwhile by donating as much as you possibly can to help me reach my £500 target.
Thank you!!
