If you know someone who has died from breast cancer, they died from metastatic breast cancer. MBC, or stage 4 breast cancer, is the spread of breast cancer in the body — most commonly to the bones, liver, lungs and/or brain. It can affect people regardless of age, weight and healthy living. A person can do everything right and still get MBC.
Many effective breast cancer treatments exist, but if the cancer metastasises, there is no cure.
Despite this stark reality, the popular breast cancer fundraising movements give on average only 2-5% of their research funds to researching metastasis. METAvivor is the only organisation that solely funds MBC research. 100% of all donations and fundraiser proceeds are placed into MBC research grants.
After several months of brutal bootcamps and what feels like thousands of kilometres covered, I am running the Paris marathon on 3rd April 2022. I have created this fundraising page to raise money to fund research dedicated to curing MBC and I would be hugely grateful for any donations to METAvivor.
