Whether you're a keen runner or starting out as a New Year's resolution, you can make a difference for YMCA Exeter. By choosing to enter the half marathon, the 10k or the community mile, your support will help transform the lives of young people.

Story

On Monday 6th May, Phoebe, Jubilee, Eleni and Amelie will be taking on a brand new challenge. This time the girls will be attempting to kayak half a mile along the Exeter Canal.

The girls will be sharing two double kayaks and decked out in lifejackets and YMCA t-shirts.

Come and watch the girls complete their challenge at Double Locks around midday.

And they're doing it all to raise money for YMCA Exeter, a local charity that supports young people at risk of homelessness.

Young people, like Martyn*

I was in a relationship and when that ended my mental health took a big dip,” explains Martyn. “I ended up losing my house and living in a tent in a forest outside of Exeter for seven months.

Thankfully Martyn was able to move into YMCA Exeter.

“My wellbeing has massively improved. Before I was lonely and my mental health was low. But being at YMCA Exeter has given me confidence and brought me out of my shell again. It was 100% the best move.”

Today Martyn has a flat of his own in YMCA Exeter's Stage 4 housing.

Thank you so much for choosing to give today. Your donation can help young people like Martyn find a safe place to call home.
