As a lecturer and scientist, I've researched and taught about lung diseases for many years now and am sadly aware of how devastating they can be for patients and their families.  Procedures can be invasive and terrifying,  though of course essential for saving lives.

I've met many courageous patients who are so grateful for their care.  But not all the battles are won, and there's so much more to learn and research needed to improve treatments and their care.
