Story
It is three years now since Theo was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, there have been highs and lows, and a few mad hospital dashes. It’s been a heart breaking, frightening and confusing time, also humbling and inspiring.
Trying to keep his levels normal throuhgout the day and night is difficult, especially as he's an active 5 year old, he can't be too high or low. Theo has to have several blood tests and insulin injections every day. There can be numerous health complications, and when he is ill even with just a cold its hard to keep the levels normal. He will be insulin dependent for the rest of his life, without it he would waste away and die.
He is a happy go lucky little chap, he holds his finger out to have his blood tested, and chooses where to have his injections on his body, he doesn’t make too much of a fuss about it, he is a true inspiration.
Please help find a cure for this disease, and support other families going through this.
Lots of love and thank you so much
Lucy :)
Type 1 diabetes is a life threatening autoimmune condition. For reasons we don’t yet fully understand, your immune system, which is meant to protect you from foreign bodies, such as viruses and bacteria, mistakenly attacks and destroys the beta cells in your pancreas that produce insulin.
