The Albaraca Nursery School provides nursery education and care to 150 children in The Gambia, West Africa. It also plays a role in health and education of the wider community, particularly in the prevention of malaria.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  My friend, Rachael Wong and her parents, set up the Albaraca Nursery School in the Gambia 12 years ago.  Since that time, it has grown from just 25 pupils to over 150 children.  The school is funded almost entirely by donations and sponsorship in the UK.  I am running my first (and probably my last!) marathon to raise funds for the school.  The funds will be used to update some of the facilities and also for the provision of mosquito nets, as well as the dipping of them in insecticide ahead of the June-October rainy season.  This is a proven and effective way of preventing malaria.
