Lands End to John O'Groats · 26 May 2021

St Anne’s Parent, Teacher and Families Association works closely with the Headteacher, Staff and Governors of the school and organises a wide range of functions and events which are of interest to the children, parents, staff and the wider community. In doing so it raises funds to help support and pay for some of the many activities and projects in the school. Over the years the PFTA Fund Raising has supported many extra-curricula activities and paid for resources that benefit the children in so many ways. This has included: Putting on the Annual Strawberry Fayre that brings the local community together with our school. Buying picnic tables for the outdoor areas at the front and back of the school. Buying whiteboards and pin boards for the school annexe. Supplying goal posts for KS1 and KS2. Provision of coaches so that each year group can go on educational trips; including visits to Weston Park, Warwick Castle, Cannock Chase Museum, the Potteries Museum and Dewa Roman Experience in Chester A huge range of equipment for the Children Arranging the yearly Christmas pantomine Providing a Tyre Park in the playground Supplying leavers sweatshirts and reception tea-towels as a long term momento of their time at St Anne's Putting on the annual school disco for KS1 and KS2.

Story

I started walking the distance of Lands End to John O'Groats on the 1st January 2021 and set myself a year to complete it. Until May I was averaging more than 100 miles a month but migraines, poor weather, and the return of normality has made it much harder to maintain this pace.

I decided that as an extra incentive I would dedicate the remaining 400 miles to St Anne's PTFA. This year the PTFA are unable to organise the usual events that support the little extras that make school life special. There's no Strawberry Fayre this year (the usual big fundraiser), no coffees at the school play, no bacon sandwiches for sports day.

They have missed out on loads for the past 18 months and I want the children to have the little extras again next year, for example being able to go on school trips again on coaches paid for the PTFA.

I will be grateful for anything you can give.
