Story

Hi everyone,

The theme of this year's Eating Disorder Awareness Week (1st March - 7th March) is Binge Eating Disorder, which affects 1 in 50 people, even if they don't know it themselves.

Last year, I was diagnosed with Binge Eating Disorder and I was devastated. Thankfully, I’m in a much better place now and can say I’m well on the road to recovery. I’ve been binge free for several months.

It’s important for me to stress that Binge Eating Disorder is not just ‘being greedy’ or ‘overeating’ once in a blue moon. This is a serious mental illness which thousands struggle with daily.

I’ve chosen to walk 27km as it takes, on average, 27 weeks for eating disorder treatment to start after the first visit to the GP. This is not quick enough treatment for people who are seriously ill.

I’d like to raise £140 minimum as this will fund 10 of BEAT’s online support groups which will provide a friendly, safe space where people who are struggling with any ED can chat with others who understand what they’re going through.

My plan is to complete this walk on Saturday 6th March.

Thank you so much for reading & please donate if you can. A little will go a very long way 🌤🤍
