Story
I was able to see just how amazing the Woking & Sam Beare Hospices were when my Grandad was diagnosed with terminal cancer in February 2018. He was given just months to live but sadly passed away in May.
During those few months while he was still at home, staff at the Woking & Sam Beare Hospices gave him round the clock support. As the disease took hold of him, staff from the hospice did everything they could to make life easier for not just my Grandad but also my Nana and our close family. The hospice staff made what was a really horrible and sad time as pleasant as could be. They were all so warm, caring and supportive to the whole family and nothing was ever too much trouble.
Without the hospice my Grandad would not have had the quality of life he had during his last few weeks and my family and I will be forever grateful for that and this is why I want to run the 2019 London Marathon and give back to such a worthwhile charity.
My Grandad was a huge sports fan himself and loved watching the marathon each year so it would be a real honour to run in his memory. The London Marathon will also be just before the year anniversary of my Grandad's death and I know how special it would be for everyone to run in his memory.
