Solent Swim · 2 September 2017

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

On September 2nd, I will be swimming from Portsmouth to Ryde on the Isle of Wight. The stretch of sea is 2.5 to 3 miles (depending on tides). I've done several open-water swims before, but this is a pretty big challenge and slightly terrifies me! The Solent is a busy shipping lane, so I will have a boat and kayak to escort me.

I am raising money for Aspire who are an incredible charity which provides help to people paralysed by spinal cord injury.

Spinal cord injury can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life.  Aspire exists because there is currently no cure.

I'd really appreciate any donations towards my fundraising target of £750.
