Charlie house are a charity that have become very close to our hearts as a family. A charity we found during the very early days of Matthews Cerebral Palsy diagnosis, when we felt lost and alone, and completely overwhelmed at the path that lay ahead.  

Charlie House are aiming to build a much needed specialist care facility in the north east which will offer respite, emergency care and palliative care for children like Matthew and families like us. There is a considerable lack of support in our area and it can be very lonely and very difficult finding the right support and care. At present Charlie house run a weekend club for families to get together for various activities or even just a coffee and a chat, which can be extremely therapeutic! We have met some wonderful and inspiring children and families who cope every day with the challenges of raising a child with severe and complex needs.  They have also recently employed a nurse, they give families the chance of a funded trip to Kielder for a short break together each year, and are also a massive help in terms of being a source of information and guidance. 

We are so excited to take on this massive challenge for Charlie house and hope to raise lots of much needed cash for their extremely worthy cause. Ride The North is a cycle event starting and finishing at castle Fraser over two days at the end of August. It's approximately 175 miles.
