Fundraising for The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation
Story

My name is Luke Flynn, a Cadet Flight Seargeant in the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. Currently attending Junior Leaders course 20.
As some of you are aware I’m currently attending a course within the cadets called Junior Leaders. This course gives me an insight into being a leader and also allows me to broaden my skills. With the hopes of joining the RAF this course is great to give me training and experience I’ll need to progress with my career.
As part of the course we complete a level 3 BTEC in leadership. One of the sections is to fundraise and our charity is the JTYAF.
John Thornton was named top student on the challenging Air Cadet Junior Leaders’ Course – the achievement recognised by a memorable flight with the Red Arrows at RAF Scampton. Afterwards, he was invited to become an instructor at Junior Leaders, inspiring a large number cadets to apply for and succeed on what has become known as the Air Cadet Organisation’s toughest course.
The John Thornton young achievers foundation (JTYAF) was set up in memory of John Thornton who was tragically killed in Afghanistan in 2008.
The JTYAF provides opportunities to young people to help them develop as individuals and fulfilll there ambitions in life as John was able to.

So as many of you may know I LOVE my hair! I’ve finally found the perfect opportunity to support a brilliant charity and am doing so by shaving my head. Not sure why I’m doing it in January I’m definitely going to need some hats!
