Story
Hi everyone,
My son, Jamie, was born in April two months before his due date. As such he had to be incubated and have special care for many weeks. What was of course a stressful time for me and Lisa was made infinitely better by the wonderful treatment we received at the Oxford John Radcliffe hospital.
During this time, we were also fortunate to be granted a room to stay at the nearby Ronald McDonald House completely for free! Not only was it wonderful to be able to come and go from the hospital whenever we pleased, the accommodation was also completely free! The staff were incredibly supportive and we feel so lucky to have had that support during the period Jamie was in hospital.
It really is an amazing charity and so I am running the Oxford Half Marathon in October and raising funds to support the Ronald McDonald House cause. Any donations, however small, would be appreciated!
Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children having treatment in hospital. Our Houses offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain. We help over 6,000 families each year and now, more than ever, we need your support. Thank you.
